About Me: As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have over 20 years of training and experience working in a variety of settings including residential, school, in-home, psych hospital, foster care and community counseling settings. I provide treatment of counseling to diverse populations ranging from early childhood to adolescents, young adults, and adults. However, I specialize in early childhood age up to adolescents. I also focus on the family as a unit. My preferred approach is Internal Family Systems Therapy, a technique developed by Richard ‘Dick’ Schwartz. It mirrors many aspects of my work; it is strength based and empowering. “All parts are welcome”
I also use evidenced-based techniques and interventions to help clients facing a variety of treatment issues including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief & loss, emotional & behavioral issues, ADD, learning differences, interpersonal conflicts, self-esteem, social skills. Also, experience with trauma, child development, parenting, postpartum issues and child development & delays of birth to age three w/parents, preschool, career, education consulting of preschool to college and more. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused and Person-Centered therapies mainly. I also conduct group therapy for extra support. IE. Parenting group, social skills group for preschool to Adolescence. I see ages four to adults for individual counseling.
My Counseling Goals for Clients & Methods: I also work from an eclectic style to best meet the needs of each individual client as we work collaboratively to promote change and relief from their identified difficulties and concerns. My approach to counseling is person-centered, evidenced based and strengths based. I work from a humanistic theoretical approach and focus on building rapport with clients by presenting as warm, genuine, and empathetic to foster strong therapeutic alliances.
I utilize solutions-focused strategies to help clients set goals and implement change. I enjoy being creative, so I use play therapy and I love my trainings from play therapist “Paris Goodyear Brown.” She promotes trainings for trauma w/play therapy for early childhood to elementary age. I also like using sand, art and music in my therapy sessions to build a good therapy relationship and to try and get the best out of all my therapy clients. My goal for you is to help you uncover your true potential and reconnect with your core self, in order to lead a life, you are happy with. We will discuss which plan you are comfortable with in counseling. This is your first step in your journey to find your empowered and reconnected self.
