About Me: As a Counselor, Consultant, and Life Coach, I prioritize creating an atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change for you. I look forward to working with you to address your challenges and realize your goals. My training consists of experience working in various settings, including residential, school, in-home, psychiatric hospital, foster care, and community counseling settings. I also do education and vocational consulting and coaching.
I provide treatment to diverse populations, including early childhood, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. However, I am an early childhood specialist through my work as a professional nanny and teacher of 20+ years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood, child development, birth to age 8, and family studies. I also focus on the family as a unit. My preferred approach is Internal Family Systems, a technique Richard ‘Dick Schwartz developed. It mirrors many aspects of my work; it is strength-based and empowering. “All parts are welcome.”
I also use evidence-based techniques and interventions to help clients facing various treatment issues, including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, emotional & behavioral issues, ADHD, learning differences, interpersonal conflicts, self-esteem, and social skills. Also, experience with trauma, child development, parenting, postpartum issues, child development & delays of birth to age three, parenting, preschool, career, education consulting, preschool to college, couples therapy, and more. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, IFS, EFT, Solution-Focused, and Person-Centered approaches. I also conduct groups for extra support. IE. Parenting group, social skills group for preschool to adolescence. I see clients for consulting, coaching, and counseling.
My Goals for Clients & Methods: I choose an eclectic approach to meet the needs of each client.
I will work collaboratively to promote change and relief from their identified difficulties and concerns. My approach is person-centered, evidence-based, and strengths-based. I work from a humanistic theoretical approach and focus on building rapport with clients by presenting as warm, genuine, and empathetic to foster strong support alliances. My goal is to give you the tools to be confident, strong, and independent.
I utilize solutions-focused strategies to help clients set goals and implement change. I enjoy being creative. With my early childhood clients, I use play therapy, and I love my training from play therapist “Paris Goodyear Brown.” She promotes training for trauma w/play therapy for early childhood to elementary age. I also like using sand, art, and music in my sessions to build a strong therapeutic relationship and try to get the best out of all my clients. I also work with parents & educate them on the tools needed to be confident in their parenting skills. I am a baby Doula and a professional Nanny who helps new parents from birth to age 8. Plus, I also help them adjust to parenting a newborn baby and will come into the home as needed.
I also work with couples to help them make their relationship stronger by using Emotionally Focused consulting goals. My goal for you is to help you uncover your true potential and reconnect with your core self, to lead a life you are happy with. We will discuss which plan you are comfortable with during counseling. This is your first step in your journey to find your empowered and reconnected self.
My Education: I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, birth-age 8, & Family Studies. I am also a former Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher. Plus, a former professional Nanny/Doula. In 2015, I took Marriage and Family Therapy classes at Messiah University. I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
