About Me: As a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist, As your therapist, it is my priority to create a therapeutic atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change, for you. I look forward to working with you to address your challenges and realize your goals. My training consists of experience working in a variety of settings including residential, school, in-home, psych hospital, foster care, and community counseling settings. I provide treatment of counseling to diverse populations ranging from early childhood to adolescents, young adults, and adults. couples and marriage counseling. However, I specialize in early childhood age up to adolescents. I also focus on the family as a unit. My preferred approach is Internal Family Systems Therapy, a technique developed by Richard ‘Dick Schwartz. It mirrors many aspects of my work; it is strength-based and empowering. “All parts are welcome”  


I also use evidenced-based techniques and interventions to help clients facing a variety of treatment issues including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief & loss, emotional & behavioral issues, ADHD, learning differences, interpersonal conflicts, self-esteem, and social skills.  Also, experience with trauma, child development, parenting, postpartum issues, child development & delays of birth to age three, parenting, preschool, career, education consulting,  preschool to college, couples and marriage therapy, and more. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused, and Person-Centered therapies mainly. I also conduct group therapy for extra support. IE. Parenting group, social skills group for preschool to Adolescence. I see ages four to adults for individual counseling. 


My Counseling Goals for Clients & Methods: I also work from an eclectic style to best meet the needs of each client as we work collaboratively to promote change and relief from their identified difficulties and concerns. My approach to counseling is person-centered, evidenced-based, and strengths-based. I work from a humanistic theoretical approach and focus on building rapport with clients by presenting as warm, genuine, and empathetic to foster strong therapeutic alliances.


 I utilize solutions-focused strategies to help clients set goals and implement change. I enjoy being creative, so I use play therapy and I love my training from play therapist “Paris Goodyear Brown.” She promotes training for trauma w/play therapy for early childhood to elementary age.  I also like using sand, art, and music in my therapy sessions to build a good therapeutic relationship and to try and get the best out of all my therapy clients.  I work with parents and I am a baby Doula who helps new parents ages birth to age 8 help them adjust to parenting a new baby. 


I also work with couples to help them make their relationship stronger by using Emotionally Focused Therapy. My goal for you is to help you uncover your true potential and reconnect with your core self, to lead a life, you are happy with. We will discuss which plan you are comfortable with within counseling. This is your first step in your journey to find your empowered and reconnected self.  


My Education: I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University in Child Development, Early Childhood Education birth-age 8 & Family Studies.  I am also a former Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher. In 2015, I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, KY.  Currently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Kentucky.
